Who knows what the guy meant by disintegrated. Anyone ask him? I don't get the instant assumption that they got wet.
If these came up forsale in my town they would be in my living room now. If Matt didn't beat me to them that is.
Would be a fun resto project. Especially if they were the alnico version.

I very much agree AB. The quantity of missing "edge" veneer strongly suggests swollen panels.And Tells me IMO, they have gotten wet. And from the looks of those cabs.That is a good possibility.....
IME, they don't necessarily have to get "wet" as in flooded or rained on. Just a year of living in a waterfront home in a humid region will greatly saturate them and encourage the growth of mold/mildew as well. The florida keys are a great place to avoid cabinets from.
OTOH, examples that have lived where it's inherently dry like AZ, or AK, or just good climate controlled environments can be found nearly as perfect as they came off the factory floor.
